The Zion Gate is the only Gate into the Armenian Quarter of the Old City. It opens up to Mt. Zion. In the past Mt. Zion was part of the Old City, but the current walls were not extended to surround this area, because they were running out of funds to place these walls on the ancient foundations. Corners were cut and the Old City was reduced in size on its south side.
